There is foul language, no sex, and lots of violence in this comic. The intended reader is someone who is interested in and familiar with the video game. The cover is a beautiful picture of Yharnam with the hunter in the center. It is 29 pages long and is published by Titan. Today’s post is on Bloodborne #1 by Ales Kot and illustrated by Piotr Kowalski. You can tell the author and/or artist who worked on this comic series have a great understanding of the game.īy the way, you can get the first four issues in one book here: You’ll also see hunters carrying some familiar weapons, like the Hunter Axe, which is in the game. This takes place before Old Yharnam was blocked off by the hunter that didn’t want anyone to kill the beasts. If you’ve played the game you don’t need to worry about reading what you’ve already played through. This story begins in Old Yharnam, which you saw in the game. In a real battle, you wouldn’t have time to keep switching the serrated edge up and down.

It’s not that it was impossible, but that when he swung behind him without looking, the serrated edge should have been facing toward him, but it was facing away from him. When the hunter attacked enemies in one of the early scenes, he was holding his saw cleaver at a really impossible angle. In Bloodborne, the serrated edge always faced up in the extended form. While the beasts and weapons are drawn very well, and the action is tightly paced and good, the only pet peeve I have is how the serrated edge of the saw cleaver keeps switching from up/down in the hunter’s hands. In Bloodborne, melee weapons have two forms. For those unfamiliar with this comic and who are picking it up for the first time, the protagonist is using a saw cleaver, which is a trick weapon. I see a lot of familiar creatures in this comic that I slew in the game. Beasts used to be human but got blood drunk after using the blood of the Old Gods too much (Old Gods are also known as Great Ones if I remember correctly).

In this comic book, you are The Nameless Hunter. I don’t think it’s required to have played the game before you read this comic series, but it definitely helps, as some of the quotes are taken out of the game, and the experience of reading this comic series will be better if you’ve played the game. This is a great comic book series, based on Bloodborne, the difficult Victorian game by Hidetaka Miyazaki. I finished playing Bloodborne on PS4 in May 2021.
